After a healthy organic breakfast at the hotel, the guests will start for a heritage walk from the guesthouse towards the market. On this walk, Mr. Gyatso, a storyteller, will escort us through the walk. We will start by visiting the museum built by the Leh Old Town Restoration Initiative (LOTI) group, with locally available materials and infrastructure. The structure evolves around a skyscraper (Thokskar) on the top floor and has relics of Ladakh. From there we will enter the old town streets where the entire landscape is still as it was in the Kings times, some of which have been restored by LOTI. The walk will take us through King Singay Namgyal’s palace. After finishing the walk around the old town the guests can explore the market and eateries.
After your visit to Thiksey and Hemis monasteries reach around lunch and be escorted to your respective rooms. Lunch will be served in the common room and guests will be briefed about the rest of the stay. The briefing will continue to the documentary screening/storytelling in the top floor common room. The guests have the evening to themselves and are welcome to join in for Chang and dinner in the garden.

Waking up to an early morning walk by the lake is a treat one must not miss. The air is chill from the night and the sun basks the rock formations and sand around the lake. After breakfast by the lake guests will start on the day’s drive to Turtuk through Agam and Shayok. Like all the overland drives around Ladakh, this drive will take you through picturesque landscapes, mountain passes, river valleys, and sparse mountain settlements. We can stop at any point to soak in the view or capture a memorable moment en route. As we approach Nubra valley we will drive by Shayok river, one of the three major rivers in the region. The river is also a landmark diving the Ladakh ranges from Karakoram ranges. We will visit the 100-foot Buddha statue in Diskit, have our lunch in town and drive on towards the Indo Pakistan border region of Turtuk. On reaching Turtuk we will be greeted by our host at the campsite. The guests can relax and have the rest of the evening to themselves to play board games and unwind in the apricot garden.
