  • Day 1 ARRIVE DELHI, INDIA
    Our representative will receive you at the Delhi airport on your arrival and will assist your transfer till the hotel check-in. The guests can rest for an hour and absorb and adapt to the sights and sounds of Delhi central. Early evening we will start on our trip to Himayun’s tomb, Indian Habitat center.

  • Day 2 DELHI TO LEH

    On reaching Leh the group will be escorted to the hotel from the airport. Over breakfast, our representative will brief guests about the upcoming trip and look into any final clarifications the guests need. For the day the guests are requested to rest and relax at the hotel to acclimatize. In the evening the guests will visit Shanti Stupa for the sunset overlooking Leh valley and Stok range. We will then move to a garden cafe/restaurant for dinner.

  • Day 3 HERITAGE WALK: (3 hours walk around the city)

    After a healthy organic breakfast at the hotel, the guests will start for a heritage walk from the guesthouse towards the market. On this walk, Mr. Gyatso, a storyteller, will escort us through the walk. We will start by visiting the museum built by the Leh Old Town Restoration Initiative (LOTI) group, with locally available materials and infrastructure. The structure evolves around a skyscraper (Thokskar) on the top floor and has relics of Ladakh. From there we will enter the old town streets where the entire landscape is still as it was in the Kings times, some of which have been restored by LOTI. The walk will take us through King Singay Namgyal’s palace. After finishing the walk around the old town the guests can explore the market and eateries.

  • Day 4 VILLAGE STAY, MATHO, LEH (26 km from Leh city):

    After your visit to Thiksey and Hemis monasteries reach around lunch and be escorted to your respective rooms. Lunch will be served in the common room and guests will be briefed about the rest of the stay. The briefing will continue to the documentary screening/storytelling in the top floor common room. The guests have the evening to themselves and are welcome to join in for Chang and dinner in the garden.

  • Day 5 MATHO TO PANGONG LAKE (150 km)

    After your visit to Thiksey and Hemis monasteries reach around lunch and be escorted to your respective rooms. Lunch will be served in the common room and guests will be briefed about the rest of the stay. The briefing will continue to the documentary screening/storytelling in the top floor common room. The guests have the evening to themselves and are welcome to join in for Chang and dinner in the garden.

  • Day 6 PANGONG LAKE TO TURTUK (319.2 km)

    Waking up to an early morning walk by the lake is a treat one must not miss. The air is chill from the night and the sun basks the rock formations and sand around the lake. After breakfast by the lake guests will start on the day’s drive to Turtuk through Agam and Shayok. Like all the overland drives around Ladakh, this drive will take you through picturesque landscapes, mountain passes, river valleys, and sparse mountain settlements. We can stop at any point to soak in the view or capture a memorable moment en route. As we approach Nubra valley we will drive by Shayok river, one of the three major rivers in the region. The river is also a landmark diving the Ladakh ranges from Karakoram ranges. We will visit the 100-foot Buddha statue in Diskit, have our lunch in town and drive on towards the Indo Pakistan border region of Turtuk. On reaching Turtuk we will be greeted by our host at the campsite. The guests can relax and have the rest of the evening to themselves to play board games and unwind in the apricot garden.

  • Day 7 TURTUK, LOCAL STORY:

    The ancient and untouched Balti village of Turtuk with its buckwheat fields, red-cheeked kids, local craftsmen, the political history of war and peace and cheerful locals is a treat for every passer-by. We take a walk with a local resident around the village visiting the small museum showcasing local history, the craftsmen making stone and brass utensils, Ibex horn bows, walking sticks and woolen handicrafts. After the walk, we will have local BALTI lunch with a local family sharing stories of war and peace that runs through the Gilgit Baltistan region. After lunch, the guests will visit the natural fridge, Sadbhavna army vocational training center, primary school and the fruit processing unit run by a former sarpanch of the village. In the evening guests can indulge in a bonfire at the campsite before dinner is served.

  • Day 8 TURTUK TO MATHO FARM STAY (225 Km)

    After a relaxed day in Turtuk we are all set for the day’s drive to Matho farms to live the local rural life of Ladakh. The drive will take us through Hunder sand dunes where guests can relax and enjoy riding double hump camels. The sight of sand dunes dwarfed by the majestic snow-capped mountains is a sight to behold. Onward towards Matho, we will cross Khardongla standing at 5359 meters, which is the highest motorable road in the world. Atop we will be received by our team with mountain bikes and cycling gear ready for our descend to Leh. The ride down is enjoyable and a major attraction amongst many visiting Leh. So we can expect many cyclists, tourists en route the same pass. On reaching Leh we will stop for chai and continue our drive to Matho village which is 26 km from Leh. On reaching Matho we will get a warm welcome by our hosts. The guests have the rest of the evening to themselves.

  • Day 9 MATHO FARM LIFE AND VISIT TO ORACLE

    Life in rural Ladakh starts early when our guests will be woken up to diced fruits with warm herbal tea. We believe that chanting and articulation of mantras open our chakras and unfolds the depths of our souls. Morning meditation will resume with serving of traditional farmer's breakfast. Visit old fashioned Ladakh i homes and ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, some dating back to 11th century. The enormity of these structures atop hills of the adjoining villages will be the treat for the day as our guests embark on a guided tour of these timeless monasteries around the Indus valley. Later in the day, we will have an audience with the Oracle (Lha), to experience the ancient wisdom of local Shamanic healing.

For your best interest, sometimes it might have to make necessary alterations to your holiday itinerary. Where practical, we will advice you before you depart from your hometown, although occasionally we may be forced to make changes en route. We will keep you informed at all times.

 

MOUNTAIN FLIGHT DELAYS

 

Bad weather in mountainous regions can cause flight delays. These problems mainly happen in Ladakh region of India. If the delay is extended it may be necessary for us to re-route the trek and tour, perhaps to an area more readily accessed by road transport. We do not accept responsibility for charges incurred as result of flight delays and missing international flight connections. However, we will make every effort to assist you.

 

INHERENT RISKS OR DANGERS

 

You understand and accept that your proposed tour may expose you to levels of physical exertion to which you may not be accustomed to or be exposed to inherent dangers when traveling through remote areas which may be subject to, among other things, unfavorable political, physical, health or climatic conditions. You must purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes a provision for helicopter rescue when you pay your deposit.

We strongly recommend that you visit your doctor and dentist before your holiday. You must ask your doctor about current inoculation requirements. Full details of pre-existing medical conditions must be forwarded to us when you book. Older clients or clients with pre-existing medical conditions may require a letter from your doctor clearing them for the trek and Beyond Himalayas Pvt. Ltd. reserve the right to check these documents prior to confirmation of tours and treks

 

PASSPORT

 

A valid passport is required for all tourists. The passports must be valid for minimum of six months from the start of journey, with at least two clean pages per country to be visited.

 

VISA REQUIREMENTS

 

A valid visa is required for the entire destination. You should always consult your doctor or nearest travel clinic for the latest information on recommended health precautions, both vaccination and malaria prophylaxis.

 

HEALTH AND SAFETY

 

GENERAL

 

Extensive medical kits are carried on all trips. In addition, medical oxygen and Portable Altitude Chambers are carried as a precaution on high altitude treks and climbing expeditions. All meals on trek are prepared specifically for your group to strict hygiene standards, and sterile washing facilities are provided.

 

HIGH ALTITUDE

 

Sickness from altitude can affect anyone. Serious problems are avoided by building in rest and acclimatization. For normal symptoms a drop in altitude, or time in portable acclimatization chamber, leads to quick recovery.

 

All trips are graded. There are Easy, Moderate, Challenging and Mountaineering categories.

AGE LIMITS 

 

Client over sixty are required to complete a medical and personal travel history questionnaire. Persons under sixteen can join specified family departures and private groups.
