After breakfast, we will start on our days visit Old Delhi with its relics of the old India. Visit Paranthe wali gali, Chandani Chowk, Jama Masjid and other relics of ancient India and the many kingdoms that ruled India and had Delhi as their capital under 7 different rulers. Relax for the evening and prepare for the next day’s flight to Leh.

On reaching Leh the group will be escorted to the hotel from the airport. Over breakfast, our representative will brief guests about the upcoming trip and look into any final clarifications the guests need. For the day the guests are requested to rest and relax at the hotel to acclimatize. In the evening the guests will visit Shanti Stupa for the sunset overlooking Leh valley and Stok range. We will then move to a garden cafe/restaurant for dinner.

After a healthy organic breakfast at the hotel, the guests will start for a heritage walk from the guesthouse towards the market. On this walk, Mr. Gyatso, a storyteller, will escort us through the walk. We will start by visiting the museum built by the Leh Old Town Restoration Initiative (LOTI) group, with locally available materials and infrastructure. The structure evolves around a skyscraper (Thokskar) on the top floor and has relics of Ladakh. From there we will enter the old town streets where the entire landscape is still as it was in the Kings times, some of which have been restored by LOTI. The walk will take us through King Singay Namgyal’s palace. After finishing the walk around the old town the guests can explore the market and eateries.

After breakfast drive to Lamayuru village, in the greens of Sham Valley. On the way visit the mesmerizing Alchi monastery built in the 11th century. Wait Lamayuru monastery on arrival and retreat to the campsite for the night.

Drive to Timisgam and visit the monastery/palace overlooking the valley. Drive to Chilling village and prep for the next day's trek.

We drive west along the Indus valley till Nimu, the confluence of Zanskar & Indus River. Turn south to follow the Zanskar river till Chilling. We have an interesting river crossing here on a cable trolley and walk is along a flat & desolate plain till past the village of Kaya. The valley narrows from Kaya and we get to Skiu shortly. Just before you enter the village, there is a small monastery on top of a rocky cliff.

This is a long day walk but the trail to Markha is not too strenuous, rising about 300m across 22km, crossing the Markha river a couple of times. The landscape keeps changing as we climb and there is enough to keep one interested. Markha is a substantial village, complete with a derelict fort on the hillside and a small village monastery. Overnight Camp.

Kang Yatse (6400m), a magnificent snow-clad mountain commands the views for the next two days. A popular place to spot herds of blue sheep slide up and down the steep cliffs with incredible agility. Overnight Camp

You pass several mani (stones with prayer inscriptions) walls and suddenly come across a small lake. The view is wonderful from here as both of Kang Yatse, whose bulk gets reflected in the still waters of the lake, and also of the Markha Valley which we are now well above. Overnight Camp.

The next four days of the trek are the most beautiful ad we walk towards Karnak valley which is not very often visited by trekkers. We traverse the slopes of Kangyatse mountain and the scenery becomes quite dramatic. We have the jagged mountains in front of us all the time while we walk on the rolling hillsides. After an initial uphill walk, we skirt around the ridges to drop down to Langtang Chu, a tributary of Markha valley

It's an easy day and the main valley starts to become narrower and the stream is smaller to cross which we have to do a few times. We camp at a grassy spot just before the pass.

It becomes steeper and as we reach the pass we realize that it was only a false summit. The trail goes further up through the scenery of rolling mountains. From the pass, we see jagged rock pinnacles, typical of Zanskar range on the south while the Kangyatse massif lies behind us. It is a steep zig zag descent to Sorra village which is quite deserted in the summers when the inhabitants take their livestock to higher pastures.

We now follow the river in a dramatic & beautiful canyon. The whole walk is quite magical as we have willows on the floor of the gorge and a clear stream running through. We finish the trek at the village which is inhabited by semi-nomadic herders. There is a small monastery in the village

The transport car will drive us to Tsokar Lake and the guests can relax for the day and enjoy the serenity of the lake. We will camp by the nomadic settlement and experience their life.

Drive from Tsokar to Tsomoriri Lake, the world’s highest freshwater lake. Have lunch at Korzok village and visit the old monastery. Drive up to Korzok phoo and camp by the nomadic settlements for the night. Experience a Nomadic lifestyle.

For your best interest, sometimes it might have to make necessary alterations to your holiday itinerary. Where practical, we will advice you before you depart from your hometown, although occasionally we may be forced to make changes en route. We will keep you informed at all times.
MOUNTAIN FLIGHT DELAYS
Bad weather in mountainous regions can cause flight delays. These problems mainly happen in Ladakh region of India. If the delay is extended it may be necessary for us to re-route the trek and tour, perhaps to an area more readily accessed by road transport. We do not accept responsibility for charges incurred as result of flight delays and missing international flight connections. However, we will make every effort to assist you.
INHERENT RISKS OR DANGERS
You understand and accept that your proposed tour may expose you to levels of physical exertion to which you may not be accustomed to or be exposed to inherent dangers when traveling through remote areas which may be subject to, among other things, unfavourable political, physical, health or climatic conditions. You must purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes a provision for helicopter rescue when you pay your deposit.

We strongly recommend that you visit your doctor and dentist before your holiday. You must ask your doctor about current inoculation requirements. Full details of pre-existing medical conditions must be forwarded to us when you book. Older clients or clients with pre-existing medical conditions may require a letter from your doctor clearing them for the trek and Beyond Himalayas reserve the right to check these documents prior to confirmation of tours and treks
PASSPORT
A valid passport is required for all tourists. The passports must be valid for minimum of six months from the start of journey, with at least two clean pages per country to be visited.
VISA REQUIREMENTS
A valid visa is required for the entire destination. You should always consult your doctor or nearest travel clinic for the latest information on recommended health precautions, both vaccination and malaria prophylaxis.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
GENERAL:
Extensive medical kits are carried on all trips. In addition, medical oxygen and Portable Altitude Chambers are carried as a precaution on high altitude treks and climbing expeditions. All meals on trek are prepared specifically for your group to strict hygiene standards, and sterile washing facilities are provided.
HIGH ALTITUDE:
Sickness from altitude can affect anyone. Serious problems are avoided by building in rest and acclimatisation. For normal symptoms a drop in altitude, or time in portable acclimatisation chamber, leads to quick recovery.
All trips are graded. There are Easy, Moderate, Challenging and Mountaineering categories.

AGE LIMITS:
Client over sixty are required to complete a medical and personal travel history questionnaire. Persons under sixteen can join specified family departures and private groups.
